We are all Indians now.

Colonization used to work so well for Western powers. Offer a bag of glass pearls to the ignorant leader of a far-away country and get a wealth of assets in return. Establish a profitable trade regime, the flag will follow. Build on economic might, the West established its own world order.

Now it seems the West has successfully colonized itself. Driven by the greed of its ignorant leaders, the US sold its treasury and blue chip industries for cheap consumer goods from China. After 30 years of "lean state" policies, its infrastructure looks more like a Third World Country than a superpower. Europe partly joined this debt addiction, partly choked off economic dynamism by fortifying social structures.

Now, after burning the state treasury as the last safety net of a perverted system, we enter the "too big to rescue" meltdown. As Western leaders seem both incompetent and addicted to the poison they continue to inject, Western decline seems inevitable.

If you ever wondered why Nero burned down Rome (or the Imperial Chinese burned their naval fleet, if you prefer an example from the new geopolitical center), there are ample answers now. It all boils down to this: The hegemony of the neoliberal oligarchy is so perfectly universal that noone questions it, but rather sticks with the gospel and watch the world burn to ashes.
